Status (see H.Renshall's talk for details):

• Strategy remains to use "data centre" quality tape drives and media, currently:

  • STK Redwood

  • STK 9840

  • IBM 3590

• Upgraded our 12 IBM 3590 drives to E model

• Moved from IBM 3494 to STK Powderhorn robots (4 drives left to do)

• Added 3 new STK silos, physically separate from our previous 4, and split our tapes between them.

• Now deploying the Cern Advanced STORage manager (CASTOR) as the successor to SHIFT.

• Field testing a new STK 99xx drive, a single reel complement to the 9840, and the IBM LTO drive.
