Gigabit networking being extended over all the major buildings of the
site

100 Megabit switches entering where Gigabit infrastructure exists

CERN shares a 155Mbps access to TEN-155 with SWITCH (1/4
is for CERN i.e. 40Mbps)

GEANT (TEN-155 successor) expected mid-2001

CERN with SWITCH hope to have 2 or 3*155Mbps bandwidth
available.

CERN, IN2P3 & WHO share a 45Mbps connection to Chicago
for commodity Internet and STAR TAP (research backbones in North America
and elsewhere). They contribute to the funding although the majority comes
from US DoE, NSF and HEP Canada.

this 45Mbps line will be upgraded to 155Mbps (STM-1) on
2000-12-01
