• Goal: "Single Sign On" for CERN users

• Feasibility study proposed Kerberos v5 with AFS and Grid certificate support

• Planned applications

• login, telnet, ftp, ssh, Exceed, file access (AFS, Windows), batch (LSF), Oracle and future Grid applications

• mail and web (passwords required for Netscape - no Kerberos)

• Milestones

• Oct 2000: Provide test authentication environment

• Feb 2001: Application plans ready and decision on a production authentication service (single realm or dual: Windows, Linux)

• May 2001: Final Plan, including: security review and password policy, opt-out mechanism, off-site access recommendations, platform independent access control proposal
